Professional installation🔧
When ordering directly from Indra, your charger will be installed by a qualified electrician from one of our carefully selected installation partners.
Installation normally takes around 2–4 hours. During that time, your electrician will install, set up and test your charger. They will also demonstrate how to use it and answer any questions you may have.
What happens after you order?
After you place your order, we’ll send a guided installation survey to your phone by SMS. The survey asks for information and photographs of your property and proposed charger location.
It is simple to complete and takes you through everything step by step—no electrical knowledge is needed.
We’ll use the information you provide to determine whether your installation is covered by our standard installation price. If additional work is required, we’ll explain what is needed and provide a no-obligation quote for the additional cost before arranging your installation.
What you need at home in order to install an Indra charger
Your electrician can advise you about any additional requirements, but generally you’ll need:
- A suitable electrical supply to which the charger can be connected
- Off-street parking
- An internet connection, using Ethernet or Wi-Fi where available. If neither is available, the charger may be able to use a cellular data connection.
Whats included in standard installation?
Around 70% of our customers qualify for a standard installation. This covers the equipment and work required for a straightforward installation, subject to the conditions below.
A standard installation includes:
- Installation of the charger on a brick or plaster wall, or another suitable permanent structure
- Up to 10 metres of cable between your electricity meter or distribution board and the charger
- External cable surface-mounted and securely clipped to the wall, no more than 1.8 metres above ground level
- Up to 3 metres of plastic conduit or trunking for internal wiring
- Installation and testing of the required electrical connections and equipment, (including a surge protection device (SPD), if you have purchased this during checkout)
- Setup of the charger’s internet connection and smart functionality
- Testing of the charger following installation
- A demonstration of the charger, its controls and the Indra app
- Sealing of holes and wall penetrations made during the installation
- Work completed in accordance with the latest wiring regulations
- An electrical certificate, issued within one week of installation following our checking and auditing process
What might require additional work?
Some properties require work that is not covered by our standard installation price. Examples include:
- More than 10 metres of cabling between your electricity supply and the charger
- Installation on a detached garage, carport or mounting post
- A more complex cable route, such as one passing through a loft or beneath floors
- Additional labour because of the complexity or duration of the work
- An upgrade to your consumer unit
- Work to your property’s earthing arrangements
- The installation or upgrading of gas and water bonding
Suitable bonding helps protect people from electric shock if an electrical fault occurs. If your property does not have the required bonding, this will need to be addressed before we can install your charger.
What happens if additional work is required?
We’ll explain what work is required and why, and provide a no-obligation quote for the additional cost.
You can review the quote before deciding whether to proceed. If you accept it, we’ll progress your order and arrange your installation.
If you decide not to proceed because of the additional work or cost, we’ll cancel your order and refund any money you have already paid.
